I watched one of my favorite movies today, Death Becomes Her, it includes Bruce Willis, Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawns and Isabella Rosellini. Isabella Rossellini is a model, actress, writer, director, and all around BA. She was Lancome's spokesperson for years, starred in David Lynch's Blue Velvet, and is currently working on a series called Green Porno, a multimedia piece about animal sex. Not only is she glamorous, but she isn't afraid to rock a snail get-up either. Oh yeah, she just happens to be the daughter of Ingrid Bergman and Roberto Rossellini as well.

Today finally revealed itself to be a holiday when I got online. Sad, I know. This year my family is not exchanging gifts, and I have been Christmas shopping for myself.

My list:
polka dotted tights x -found them downtown for $4! them found another pair in my Mom's drawer of stockings.
thigh high boots- waiting for the nine west pair to go on sale.
thigh high socks
black wedges
tattoo x -headed down to PB with my best friends before returning to LA.
red lipstick
black crossbody bag x -thanks girls! also found another in my mom's closet.
oxford shoes xish- I fit an old pair of my dad's loafers, but they're not perfect.

so maybe I will get everything on my Christmas list if I feel like spending $100 on each pair of the shoes I want.

I've always spent way too much time deciding what to wear in the mornings. I'm usually late because I have to rake through my options. I begin to count down as I stare at the contents of my closet, 10... maybe the black vest...9...then I can wear my nikes, and skate...8...oh no! my black pants are greener than my vest...7...

Why do I bother? To be honest, I know I won't feel as good if I'm not wearing an outfit suited to the day's feelings. I know that if someone stares at me a bit too long, that I'll try and will them to understand why I chose this outfit. Everyone wants to say something, present their personality, define themselves in this overpopulated world. And do we understand them? It's hard to know, but I thought I'd start trying with this project.

I photographed friends in a neutral setting, then in their clothes of choice, and then I photographed just their clothing. They're all pieces of the great portrait puzzle.

I tried this jacket on at Wasteland. IT IS AMAZING! The arms fit perfectly, the leather was soft and the draping was (insert another word for perfect here)! They were selling it for $280, though there was a black one that had a tear for $200. Decisions. It may be too trendy for $300, but I look at my faux leather jacket, shredding all over, and think that I need a replacement. Also, black or grey?

Don't you hate having to replace your favorite clothes? For me, even if I found the exact same thing I wouldn't buy it because I already did once. I then have to search for something similar, but not exactly the same, and I'm always poor, so true discoveries are far spread.

P.S. I bought the Payless beige chukkas, and Pat. Field boots too, pictures shortly.

It occurs to me that everything that I've posted lately has been black. This is in accordance with my black and cream inspiration. The idea is that I buy all my staples in those two colors, and then seasonal colors will go with them. I've never been into the color brown...
...and it's been REALLY hard to find the cream oxfords/chukkas that I want. Retailers, work with me here!

+I wish these seafoam oxofords were beige, and maybe had a capped toe, also.
+I got these black oxford/winkle pickers at Urban, they're more sparkly in person.
+I am also contemplating these thigh high boots, my only reservation being the quality of their fake leather.

When I was in elementary school we had fundraisers at Shakey's pizza. It was always a special event because I rarely saw anyone outside of the playground. One year I was really excited to go and show off my light blue onesie. It was made of a tennis material and it had white fabric daisies at the neckline. That night I had to pee REALLY bad, but I didn't get the onesie off fast enough, and I had to sit the rest of the night out, hiding my cute, but wet, outfit.

Oddly enough, I'm still obsessed with onesies.

I remember buying combat boots in the Philippines one summer in elementary school, and my sister copied me and got a pair as well. I asked my mom if we still had them, hoping I might fit my sister's pair. Apparently I wore them out, which makes me happy. After ordering these, I take a mental picture of my feet and see them overexposed against the grass.
